Lyon Drive Reconstruction Project
Tuesday, September 23, 2008

The City’s contractor, Decker Construction, is scheduled to begin Phase 2 of the pavement removal and replacement on Thursday, September 25, 2008 (Weather Permitting).

This work will require a 10-day closure of the street to all traffic.

The reconstruction work will be from 3910 Lyon Drive to McCoy Road (also included will be Marysue Lane). This work will include removing the old pavement, grading, preparing, compacting the exposed sub grade, and replacing the roadway. While the roadway is being replaced, the road will be closed to all traffic. Only construction, public service and public safety vehicles will have access to the roadway. All vehicles should be removed from your driveway by 7:30 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2008.

While driveway access is unavailable on your section of the street that is being removed, you may park along the crossing street closest to your house. It is important that you get your car(s) out of your driveway or garage before the pavement is removed. Your trash will still be picked up on the day that it is scheduled. If you could please bring your trash to the curb at the street, that would make it easier for Inland Services to collect.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances (Weather Permitting), the first layer of asphalt work should be completed by Saturday, October 4, 2008. Once this first layer of asphalt is installed, you will once again be able to access your driveways with your vehicles.

We realize this will be an inconvenience, and we will do everything possible to minimize the impact. Your patience and understanding while we complete this project is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please contact the City’s Project Representative Sebastian French at 583-5360 or email at sfrench@uaoh.net. Thank You.

Kioka Avenue Waterline Project
Monday, September 15, 2008

The purpose of this Focus On is to inform you that tomorrow, Tuesday, September 16th, 2008, your water service will be disrupted beginning at 3:00 PM. If all work is completed without complications, the water service should be restored to your home by 6:00 PM.

This work is necessary to connect the recently installed waterline on Kioka Avenue to the watermain on Eastcleft Drive.

The time of disruption, during aforementioned hours, was scheduled to provide the least amount of inconvenience to the public as well as provide continued service to Wickliffe Alternative school during its school day. In light of the recent storm and resulting power outages it is possible that if the Upper Arlington schools are closed on Tuesday this disruption to your water service may be moved up to 9:00 A.M. with the water service being restored no later than 2:00 P.M.

The City appreciates your patience during this process.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jeff Barnhart in the City Engineer’s office at 583-5360 or e:mail: jbarnhart@uaoh.net. Thank you.

Collingswood Road Reconstruction Project
Friday, August 15, 2008

This notice is to inform you about the upcoming reconstruction work on Collingswood Road (from Coventry Road to Northwest Boulevard) that is scheduled to take place in the near future.

The major portions of the work include:

1. New Waterline & Storm Sewer
2. Asphalt Pavement Removal & Replacement
3. Curb & Gutter Removal & Replacement
4. Driveway Approach Removal & Replacement

We would like to hear the opinion of the residents along Collingswood Road regarding the possible installation and placement of a new sidewalk. The approximate cost for sidewalk is $50.00 per running foot. It is the City’s policy that first-time sidewalk installation be paid for by the residents whose property abuts the street. This policy is supported by the fact that first-time sidewalk on other City streets was indirectly paid for by the property owners as part of the original purchase of the property. The developer who built the sidewalk recouped his cost through the sale of the lots to the original homeowners. The proposed sidewalk would be 5 foot wide with a 5 foot tree lawn.

Also, please notify us if you have any dog fences or sprinkler systems that are located behind the curb so that we can try to avoid damaging them during construction.

If you have any questions or are interested in representing your street by conducting an informal petition for new sidewalk or, if you wish to learn more about the process, please contact the City’s Engineering Division at 583-5360 on or before September 15, 2008. Otherwise, the design for the project will proceed without the installation of new sidewalk.
