Did You Know?
- A single water-filled bucket can produce hundreds of biting mosquitoes
- Most disease causing mosquitoes spend their entire lives within 300 feet of their breeding site
- While an adult mosquito's life expectancy is not more than a few weeks, the female may lay several batches of eggs, each containing several hundred eggs

- Thursday, September 11, for all areas south of Zollinger Road, resulting from many mosquito traps in Upper Arlington yielding high numbers of mosquitoes.
- Thursday, August 28, for all areas south of Lane Avenue, resulting from several mosquito traps testing positive for West Nile Virus.

Fogging activities occurred during the overnight hours of the following dates:
- Monday, August 13, for all areas south of Lane Avenue, resulting from many mosquito traps in Upper Arlington yielding high numbers of mosquitoes.
2006 Activity Summary
Fogging activities occurred during the overnight hours of the following dates:
- Thursday, July 6, for all areas of Upper Arlington, resulting from many mosquito traps in Upper Arlington yielding high numbers of mosquitoes.
- Thursday, August 24, for all areas north of Fishinger Road, resulting from many mosquito traps in Upper Arlington yielding high numbers of mosquitoes.
2005 Activity Summary
Fogging activites occurred during the overnight hours of the following dates:
- Thursday, September 15, for all areas south of Fishinger Road, resulting from several mosquito traps testing positive for West Nile Virus.
- Wednesday, August 17, for all areas south of Fishinger Road, resulting from three mosquito traps testing positive for West Nile Virus.
- Tuesday, August 9, for all areas north of Fishinger Road, resulting from three mosquito pools testing positive for West Nile Virus.
- Tuesday, July 26, for all areas north of Fishinger Road, resulting from three mosquito pools testing positive for West Nile Virus.
In 2005, a total of 45 mosquito pools tested positive for the West Nile Virus in the City of Upper Arlington between July 11 and September 26. The Franklin County Board of Health tested over 9,000 mosquitoes in 2005 in the City of Upper Arlington.
2004 Activity Summary
Fogging activities occurred during the overnight hours of the following dates:
- Thursday, September 9 for the entire community, resulting from three mosquito traps testing positive for West Nile Virus.
- Thursday, August 26 for the entire community, resulting from continued high levels of mosquitoes trapped in the area.
- Thursday, August 12 for all areas south of Fishinger Road, resulting from continued high levels of mosquitoes.
- Thursday, July 29 for all areas south of Fishinger Road, resulting from continued high levels of mosquitoes.
- Thursday, July 22 for all areas south of Fishinger Road, as a result of three additional traps testing positive for West Nile Virus.
- Sunday, July 11 for the area bounded by Riverside Drive to the west, Fishinger Road to the north, Northwest Boulevard to the east, and Lane Avenue to the south. Three pools of mosquitoes did test positive for West Nile Virus within this area.
2003 Activity
- 2 birds tested positive for West Nile Virus in Franklin County
- 1 bird tested positive for West Nile Virus in Upper Arlington
- 51 pools tested positive for West Nile Virus in Franklin County
- 1 pool tested positive for West Nile Virus in Upper Arlington
- 50 mosquito traps were set on designated nights between June - September in 14 different locations in Upper Arlington
- 1364 mosquitoes were collected and tested
2002 Activity
- 19 birds (crows and blue jays) tested positive for West Nile Virus in Franklin County
- 5 birds tested positive for West Nile Virus in Upper Arlington
- 55 mosquito pools tested positive, sites tested by Franklin County Board of Health
- 4 mosquito pools tested positive in Upper Arlington
2001 Activity
- 81 crows and blue jays collected in Columbus and Franklin County
- 21/Columbus, 13/County positive identifications of the presence of West Nile Virus
- Trapping took place more than 45 nights countywide in 70 different locations
- 3,961 mosquitoes collected
