MUSIC IN THE PARKS
Enjoy a Variety of Music All Summer Long
The Cultural Arts Division invites you to enjoy our free summer concert series, Music in the Parks, Thursdays June 5 to August 7. This free concert series takes place outdoors at the Municipal Services Center North Lawn, 3600 Tremont Road, from 6:30–8 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved inside to the Council Chamber while concerts at community parks will be cancelled.
Enjoy performances by incredibly talented artists during this summer’s Music in the Parks Series featuring an eclectic mixture of musical styles and genres. Improvisational jazz tunes performed by the Upper Arlington High School Jazz Band will kick off the summer season on June 5. Be delighted with Columbus Dance Theatre’s performance on June 12, followed by the fresh sounds of youth bands from the Upper Arlington High School on June 19. The Spikedrivers will perform unique bluesy, upbeat, country rock ‘n’ roll on June 26.
Grab your lawn chair or blanket and join us July 10 for Afro-Cuban Jazz and Salsa performed by Columbus’ Yumbambe. This concert will inspire you to participate in a drumming circle at Thompson Park the following week as part of Summer Celebration on July 17. Enjoy cool jazz during the summer heat on July 24 with the Byron Stripling Quartet and on July 31 with the Stan Smith Quartet. The High Street Stompers Dixieland Band will complete the series on August 7.
The mission of this concert series is to offer a broad range of repertoire and musical styles. This concert series offers outstanding musical excellence, accessibility, and community appeal. The series expands opportunities for local musicians of national acclaim to enrich our community enhancing the musical life of artists who choose to live here. The summer concert series is a success through the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council, Pagetech Ltd. and Huffman’s Market.
