Fire Division Welcome
The Fire Division provides fire fighting, emergency medical, rescue, and hazardous materials response for the community. There are also a variety of non-emergency programs available to assist the public with fire prevention, smoke detectors, blood pressure screening, carbon monoxide, fire inspections, station and truck tours, and public speaking requests.
Each year, Fire Division personnel undergo training exercises to ensure the best service to residents. This includes mandatory continuing education to maintain firefighting, EMT, paramedic, and inspection certifications, use of donated structures for live fire and rescue training, and participation in three annual field exercises as part of the regional hazardous materials team.
What's on
the Week of May 13-19?
- Chief Young will attend the city council meeting, a Leadership Team meeting, his monthly meeting with the city manager, a Franklin County EMA executive board meeting, and a new ladder truck "build meeting" at Sutphen Manufacturing; will give a tour of Station 72 for a regional city managers' meeting; and will give a fire chief's report to UAFD personnel as part of the quarterly update program.
- EMT students from Grant and Columbus State will perform field clinical time on Medic 71 & Medic 72.
- UAFD staff will give reports to UAFD personnel (all shifts) as part of the quarterly update program.
- Station 72 personnel will give a firehouse tour for a Cub Scout den.
- On-duty Emergency Operations personnel will open and close a fire hydrant for a fundraising car wash.
- Emergency Operations personnel will have fire apparatus on static display at the city's annual "Spring Fling".
