We make FUN happen! Photo Challenge
Amateur, professional and school-age photographers are invited to enter their best digital images in the Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department's We Make Fun Happen! digital photography challenge.
- Spring/Summer Challenge dates are March 1 - August 31
- Fall Challenge dates are September 1 - December 15
- Winter Challenge dates are December 16 - February 15
In our quest to showcase and celebrate this premier community, photos must be "recognizably Upper Arlington" and taken within the City of Upper Arlington city limits. Judging takes place shortly after each season timeframe, and is based upon the use of color, quality and clarity, evoking a sense of place, telling a story or depicting the department's We Make Fun Happen! tagline.
Image Requirements
Images should be submitted in digital format only, preferably jpg file format, 300 dpi minimum, with a minimum file size of 3MB.
File names generated by the digital camera or scan must be RENAMED as follows: first and last name of contestant, and a short title of photograph without using capital letters, spaces, underlines or dashes. For instance, if Jim Brown entered a Summer Celebration shot of the he would name his photo entry: jimbrownsummercelebration.jpg or if he entered a photo of his child attending soccer camp he would name his entry: jimbrownsoccercamp.jpg.
Submit Your Photos by Email
Entering is easy and free! Submit entries to wemakefunhappen@uaoh.net. Attach only ONE image file per email.
For each email the contestant MUST supply all the following information:
- On the email subject line enter: photo contest entry by [your name]
- In the message area enter:
- First and last name of contestant
- Address, City, State, Zip Code
- Date photo was takenLocation photo was taken
- Name(s) of individuals in the photo (release if individual is a minor)
- Contact phone number
- Email address
- Indicate youth (under 18) or adult (18 years and up) division.
By submitting entries, the contestant acknowledges and agrees to the terms of the contest Entry Agreement (read terms below).
Entry Agreement
In submitting the attached photo to the City of Upper Arlington (City) and participating in the We Make Fun Happen Photo Challenge, I (we), (Contestant), hereby warrant and agree to the following:
- Contestant warrants to City that he/she has lawful ownership rights to the photo and acknowledges that once submitted, the photo becomes the property of the City.
- The photo is the result of contestant's sole artistic efforts.
- The photo unique and original and does not infringe upon any copyright or patent.
- The photo is free and clear of any lien. Except for title and possession, pursuant to the Copyright Act of 1976 (17 U.S.C. §101 et seq.)
- The contestant grants to CITY an irrevocable and non-exclusive worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, and/or to display two- or three-dimensional reproductions of the photo in any manner whatsoever relating to any CITY publication or event, including, without limitation:·
- Public display as well as reproduction on City items, such as print ads, postcards, posters, brochures, applications, television programs and the City website.
- In addition the City will include contestant's name somewhere on the document where the photo is used.
- The City may alter images of the photo as necessary to fit into reduced or enlarged format sizes.
- The City may use the photo on City merchandise and commercial items which may be sold for fundraising purposes.
Hold Harmless
Contestant agrees to release City, its agents, officials, employees, sub-contractors and volunteers from and against all liability, including copyright or patent infringement claims or causes of action, arising out of this Agreement and claims arising from Contestant's participation in the We Make Fun Happen! Photo Challenge. Contestant agrees to defend (with counsel satisfactory to CITY), indemnify and hold the City harmless and free from all liability, whether caused by passive negligence or otherwise, arising out of Contestant's participation or association with the We Make Fun Happen! Photo Challenge. Contestant agrees to pay all costs incident to any claim, including, without limitation, attorneys' fees. I agree that the above information is correct. I further agree that this agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the law of the State of Ohio.
