Even as work continues on the Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan, our Parks & Recreation Department has identified some improvement projects for 2018.

While plans for building new indoor facilities at Devon Pool were postponed until the fall/winter of 2018-2019, the purchase of new furnishings and shade structures has been brought forward to this year, so that patrons can enjoy them this coming season. Additionally, some waterline improvements are in progress at the pool filter buildings.

Plans are underway in partnership with the Engineering Division to construct a relatively short, but invaluable section of shared use path on Masters Drive. This will provide a connection from McCoy Road to the existing path in Wyandot Park, which in turn, provides a safe access point across Riverside Drive to the City of Columbus’ park and pathway network along the Scioto River.

The Westover Playground is next on the list for equipment replacement. Plans to meet with neighboring residents are slated for early summer to gather ideas for the playground components.

And last but not least, the ball diamonds at Reed Road Park are due for upgrades, including new dugouts, backstops and fencing. This work would take place after the spring season. Staff will also begin a process to evaluate drainage in several parks to assist with playability.

If you have questions about any of these projects, contact the Parks & Recreation Department, at 614-583-5300.
