The City’s preparations for the transition to a new Solid Waste Program early in 2018 have moved into high gear. Scheduled to begin on February 5, Local Waste Services will be the provider of an enhanced program that I am confident residents will quickly embrace due to its ease of use, uniformity in appearance on collection day, and more.

The River Ridge/Kingsdale West Study process has begun—what will be a grassroots process that looks at the neighborhood's character and identifies any needs or opportunities for continuing its strength for the years ahead. A Neighborhood Character Workshop is the first part of the community engagement process, scheduled for Thursday, November 16.

As a convenience for residents, our Code Compliance Division will be taking signs to a SWACO drop-of this coming weekend, or you can take them directly to this event, scheduled for 8-11 a.m., Saturday, November 11 at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex on Olentangy River Road.

In September, our Community Development Department received a population estimate from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission that indicates UA is definitely part of regional growth trends. In 2018, we are predicted to have a population of 35,203, up almost 1,500 from the 2010 Census.

While the City’s Drug Collection Unit is open to the public throughout the year at the Municipal Services Center, our Police Division is again participating in the DEA’s upcoming National Drug Take Back Day. Bring unused prescription drugs to the Tremont Road parking lot of the MSC from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28 for safe disposal by our officers.
