Request a Fire Station Tour
The public is invited to visit any UAFD fire station. Tours are available for formal groups (scouts, school classes, etc) as well as individuals and families. Walk-ins are welcome but, due to the unpredictability of emergency runs, visitors may find an empty station. Groups are encouraged to call ahead at 614-583-5100, or complete an online tour request form.

Station 72 - Reed Road Fire Station

At an estimated cost of $6.3 million, the current 32,000 square-foot station replaced the former 10,000 square-foot facility, which was built in 1959.

City Council approved legislation on August 25, 2008 to issue $6 million in bonds to help finance the construction. A portion of the annual revenues generated by the Emergency Medical Service Billing program is being used to repay the bonds.

The station includes:

  • Ten individual bunkrooms for improved privacy for Fire Division staff
  • A workout facility for police officers, firefighters, and other city employees
  • Office space for Fire Administration, EMS & Training, Fire Prevention, and Public Education staff
  • Storage and exhibit space for public viewing of the Fire Division's restored first fire truck
  • A police firearms qualification range
  • A police defensive tactics training room
  • Storage space for firearms and ammunition
  • A training room that doubles as the city's Emergency Operations Center
