Public Records Requests
Citizens are much more likely to have both trust and confidence in governmental institutions that are open to public scrutiny - a principle that is the foundation of Ohio's Sunshine Laws.
House Bill 9, passed by the Ohio General Assembly in 2007, strengthens these laws and charges the Office of the Attorney General with ensuring Ohio public officials understand these provisions. It requires that a model public records policy be provided to all public offices, and that they must in turn adopt a formal policy for complying with the Public Records Act.
Requesting Public Records from the City
Residents may request any public record from the City Clerk's Office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. A form, though not required, is available by clicking here, and in hard copy format in the City Clerk's Office to help clarify what is being requested. Your records request will be fulfilled in a reasonable amount of time.
To avoid charges, many documents are available online on this website. Exempt records that are available online shall be charged in accordance with this schedule if printed copies are requested. If the records are stored off-site, the requestor will be charged the actual cost of pickup/delivery (exclusive of labor).
