Image of Thompson Park in the fallThe City of Upper Arlington was incorporated in 1918 and has grown into a primarily residential community of approximately 34,000 residents covering 9.77 square miles. The City enjoys a convenient location as a first-ring suburb of Central Ohio, with easy access to downtown Columbus, the Columbus airport and major highways.

Upper Arlington is run under the Council/Manager form of government, combining the strong political leadership of elected officials with the strong managerial experience of an appointed manager (see the Administration section for full details of City Council and City Administration).

In the spring of 2016, the Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce joined forces with the Grandview Area Chamber of Commerce to create the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership, serving the business communities in Upper Arlington, Grandview and Marble Cliff.

  • 2017 Community Survey
    The 2017 Community Survey process is complete and the report can be viewed here. A presentation of the results to City Council is scheduled for the Monday, August 28 City Council Meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
