What is GIS?
GIS stands for Geographic Information System. GIS combines maps with data, and organizes them in useful and meaningful ways. UAGIS is a web-based mapping system that puts Upper Arlington maps and various data into layers, which can be turned on or off with the click of a button.
Getting Started:
To view the various informational layers on a City map, you will first need to download a plug-in to use the UAGIS system. Click here to view the system requirements, and download the appropriate plug-in. You will only have to download the plug-in once. Once downloaded, you may click on the "Interactive Mapping" link above.
What is Interactive Mapping?
The Interactive Mapping tool allows you to choose the data you wish to view. Some information is viewable only at city level, but you may use the zoom tool to view more information at the neighborhood or parcel level. Simply click on the Interactive Mapping link at the top of this page to begin. GIS layers include color aerial photographs, city utilities, contour elevations, zoning classifications with links to pertinent codes, parcel information, and more. Check (or uncheck) the appropriate box(es) on the left side of the map for the layer(s) you wish to display. For printing, copying, report creation (including mailing labels), and other user tools, right-click your mouse for a menu.
Technical users can check the Download Data box at left to download grids of geocoded data for use in engineering applications. Each grid is coded with longitude and lattitude, allowing for it's proper placement on a map.
